‘Kookaburra Gite’ is located on the ground floor of a double storey house in the village of La Redorte on the Canal du Midi and provides the ideal spot from which to take full advantage of the entire region. The house is within easy reach of the shops and commerce in the village including a patisserie, butcher’s, pharmacy, supermarket, petrol station, newsagency, bank and post office. Mobile traders regularly visit the market square selling a variety of fresh goods and there is even a visiting take-away pizza service. There is a typical French café and the restaurant ‘La Rivassel’ is a 5 minute walk away and right on the canal. If you fancy venturing further afield there are a variety of restaurants and cafes in the nearby port town of Homps.

Kookaburra Gite Guestbook

La Redorte - a spacious, light, clean and welcoming holiday house, very modern and comfortable, the kitchen was fantastic, so we could cook and entertain our friends. We particularly liked the short walk to the shops (pharmacy, patisserie, post office). The people in the village were friendly and most helpful as our French was limited. It was very quiet, so we could sleep soundly! Thank you for the wonderful memories!

As a family of four, we stayed very comfortably at La Redorte. The appartment has the perfect mix of old and new and as soon as we opened the door and saw the gorgeous period tiles, we knew we had made the right decision to stay in this little village.

The two separate living areas ( lounge/dining room ) allowed the children their space to watch TV, whilst the adults could linger longer over dinner. The kitchen was well equipped and everything we wanted was provided. Beds were comfortable and the ensuite to each of the bedrooms was an added bonus. There is a laundry and hanging space in the garden.

La Redorte is a small village on the Canal du Midi. The canal is a two minute walk away and we enjoyed strolling along the canal under shady trees, to the neary villages. The village has the added bonus of a supermarket with fresh fish and produce. A short walk to the patisserie and our shopping was complete.

Sue and Bruce were very helpful in answering any questions we had and I do not hesitate in recommending this apartment or their services to anyone who is thinking of holidaying in this wonderful part of France.
